Sometimes, I Wish…

Sometimes the world around me seems to be an ominous cave
Lavish, opulent, yet a suffocating place

When everyone and everything seems to change
I just cannot match up to their pace

It is then that I wish I could go back in time
To my grandma’s tales and the nursery rhyme

Or to my school, to quarrel over those silly games
Or to gaze for hours through my window pane

Sometimes I wish I could take a lousy walk
And kick the pebbles on my way

Making sure they all drop into the lake
To watch the ripples appear and slowly fade away

It is then I recall, all that I had wished before,
The heights of glory I vouched to achieve

Today those colossal heights seem easier to reach
Yet those little wishes, remain unfulfilled.
